What is balad?
Al balad is an Arabic word meaning the “Land (of the country)”. Human beings are social creatures and traditional societies lived in balance with each other and their environment. Structures were inclusive through every stage of life. As you became elderly, you became one of the Village Elders, well respected, revered and looked after.
